Chiuko Ono walked down the road, heading toward the school which was a few miles away. She used to riding her brand new Giant bike, the one she got from her 15th birthday. She enjoyed the feeling of riding her bike to school with her scornful expression shooting everybody who passed by. But today, she just walk.

The high school located on the outskirt of the city. They didn't get lots of money by then. But it was a good school, at least adults appreciate that. However, there was a rumor which had been Spreading out among students for a very long time , long enough that it was like the seeds buried under the soil. The light streamed through the dusty window glass, and the dew glistened which decorated the coming-and-going footsteps. It was the time when all the final exam grades would be published on a special board in the lobby of the first floor so that everybody could see it when coming into the teaching building. And today the usual glum atmosphere was replaced by a rising sense of delight. Chiuko skittered and passed through the crowd which crammed in the first floor. Rather gaily, she raised her head and stole a glimpse of the board ahead. The name went smoothly and with arithmetic numbers labelled at the left Side of them:

1. Chiuko Ono

2. Mayuko Kuriyama

3. Youji Nagano

. "The first one again, how good is she...." People in the crowd bursted with praise and it was easy to acknowledge that it was mixed strong jealousy. A silent war, Chiuko thought when heading towards her classroom. As a small private high school, they seemed to be pretty sure and content about their action, once it could raise their possibility to send more students to the famous universities the parents adored. Yes, that's what they did.

In the main building, the tall and dimly decorated construction which emerged a intricated expression resembled of a grimace led by the front door, the spiral staircase twisted up and winded to the office room on the top of the building. Elevator had never been added in the building as if it would deprecate this typical and indescribable sense. In the room several school supervisors was gathered together with the headmaster, a couch-like being who stroded right towards his revolving chair and sat down. The chair creaked reluctantly from bearing his enormous mass laying on it. " So. As we dicussed. " he spoke with a mighty glance to all of them. " the plan can not be delayed and we will hold that extra class in the summer time. " But sir, I don't think it's wise enough to have students studied in that old region. We have delt a death case there. " " That's fine. " answered the headmaster staring with his cold expression to the man. He quivered and sat down quietly. " We've solved that already, just don't be that superstitious. " the couch said lifting his body, and gazed at the far away old buildings through the window. It was moodily grey.
