Deslina felt the dirt and water under her feet as she ran along the edge of the lake. Her heart beat was erratic and she struggled to keep her balance as the quartz crystals that covered the bank of the lake bit into the pads of her feet. She couldn't stop she couldn't turn around, the wolf was at her heels. She was lucky, in the last few seconds she' been able to gain twenty or thirty feet do to the ungraceful stumbling of her pursuer.
Just when she thought her lungs were going to burst she saw the grassy patch of shore ahead. She sprinted the last several feet and all but through herself into the patch hoping to god she wouldn't catch the wrong end of the knife she knew was there. So far luck was on her side she didn't receive so much as a scratch but she didn't stay long enough to thank the god that had allowed her such luck. On her hands and knees she groped for the hidden blade before grabbing the handle and stumbled up the hill into the trees that framed the edges of the shore.
As she hit the slim cover of the trees she jumped and grabbed the lowest branch of first oak she could find. Shimmying up the tree a few feet higher than her pursuer, she pressed herself hard against the trunk and tried to slow her ragged breathing. She heard her pursuer cussing as he fought his way up the hill to find her.
"Where are you, you bitch?!" She held her breath for a moment as she heard him crash onto the ground no doubt falling over some broken branch as he did. He screamed in anger, she heard him right his self and continue the chase. "Oh, when I find you little girl I'll make you scream my name before I slit your pretty little throat!"
As she heard him come closer, she couched like a catupon the branch. He stumbled under her tree unaware of her presence and as he began to right himself once more she pounced. Her knees hit his chest with a thud and as his eyes opened in surprise and anger she brought the knife down intothe curve between histhroat and his collar bone. It was sickening how she relished the blow.It was sweet how easily the blade sunk into his body. Before she had a chance to realize what she had done shepulled the blade free of his body and raised it above her headslammed it into his chest again and again.
She wasn't aware of what she was doing at that point her body was moving on it's own violation. Her mindwas already gone. She was back at the beginning of her journey were a violent string of events had lead her to this crazed stage.
