Part 17: Interrogation
It's cold... cold as ice for Ally..once she entered the portal. But it was only brief. She now feels another type of coldness once she got out of the mirror. The coldness of the night air in her house. That empty... lonely feeling again. She looks behind her, at the mirror. Sarah did not come with her. She gets to the mirror and touches it.
How to open the portal, actually? She wondered. She didn't get the chance to even ask Sarah over it. Will she ever see Sarah again? Does she even want to?
Footsteps are coming up the stairs now and there are presence in her parents' bedroom. She turns to look without a care of what might happen. It's the agents from before along with several other men..and.. Dr. Schaufman?? Ally is confused... but she feels really exhausted. She just wants to stop thinking. She then falls to the ground with a loud thud and heard someone screaming 'she needs medical attention'...
Ally blinks with a closed eyelids. She can feel herself lying on a not-so-comfortable bed. Strong aroma of alchohol and medicine fill the air. She thought that she must be in a hospital. She opens her eyes slowly.
Something is poking through her skin. She can feel the immediate pain when she is fully awake. "Ouch..." she muttered. It's a tube connecting to her veins.
"You're dehydrated," she heard someone said. She only now notices that Dr. Schaufman is sitting next to her bed, holding a chart, possibly a medical chart. "Are you okay, Ally?" She asked, sounding concerned. Ally only nodded, contemplating whether to trust the woman before her who was previously her shrink, whom she talked to about the incidences in her house, whom she suspects must have something to do with those two FBI agents from before. "I've checked on you. Luckily you've not turn into a lora," she said, smiling honestly, it seems.
"So you knew about lora?" Ally felt an immediate need to ask.
She nodded, putting a guilty smile. "I'm also working for D32," she confessed.
"What is D32 actually?" Ally asked.
"It actually stands for Dimension 32. There are about 32 dimensions out there. That's the number we've known of so far," she explained without hesitation. "There are agents for D32 in each dimensions except for the last one. Some goes by the same name of union or bureau like FBI. We're needed in order to eliminate any abnormalities," she explained.
"Like eliminating a lora?" Ally asked, coercing her for more explanations.
With a little hesitation at first, she then said, "yes."
Ally looks away, deciding not to trust her. "What do you want from me anyway?"
"Look. I know we've got to a bad start with agent Fox and Wilca. But you must believe me that we're actually on the good side here. You know what loras can do, right? They feed on flesh. They are bringing imbalence to the dimensions. What we'll do is just that we'll send it to a realm where no portal can be opened from within. The last dimension; Dimension number 32. She can't harm anyone anymore once she's there," she persuaded Ally. She is not going to send this one to the realm actually. She intented to make her an experiment. She just had to lie to make Ally cooperate with her.
Sarah is nothing like that. Well, yes. She feeds on flesh and Ally didn't want to think about that. It's better if she didn't know what else Sarah is doing and all. But it's different. Sarah is nice to her. Sarah is like... Ally's mother. She didn't want to lose her for the second time. She knows she's being selfish but no. She will not lose Sarah! "Again, what do you want from me?" Ally repeated her question, being stern.
Dr. Schaufman only sighs. "I thought you could lead us to her," Shelly Schaufman is being impatience. She hated to have to deal with a stubborn teenager like this.
"I can't help you with that. Sorry," Ally simply said, looking like she's not sorry at all even when she said 'sorry'.
Dr. Schaufman gives up. She decided to take another course of action since this girl can't be persuaded. She smiles thinking that they had actually planted CCTV and hearing devices to Ally's house for Plan B. "Okay," she said. She then handed a namecard to Ally. "Call me if you think you find something that could help us," she said.
Ally takes the card, deciding to discard of it later. "Will do," she lied. And Dr.Schaufman gets out of the room. Ally quickly rips the card apart and throws it scattered on the room's floor as soon as Dr. Schaufman disappeared from her sight.
