Part 8: The Session
Psychology. Psychotic. Mental illness. Madness... These words play through Ally's mind as she waits outside the door of Dr. Shelly Schaufman. She is having her first session today. Dr. Schaufman is a shrink. She's going to help Ally. At least that's what Uncle Jay and Aunt Morry said. Help... She needs help, is it? Because she's mad... isn't it?
She sits down on a chair oppositing Dr. Schaufman. She did not say anything. Dr. Schaufman is currently briefing her on the future of the session. Blah blah blah blah... Confidential issues... Blah blah blah blah... What broke the confidential... Blah blah blah blah... Oh! And now she needs to sign some forms... She missed hearing all the explanations because she's just lost in her thoughts. Or probably she just didn't want to listen anyway.
She just took the papers and put her signature down without even reading it, without even caring. Ally hands the papers back to Dr. Schaufman without even looking at her, but she then noticed that Dr. Schaufman is not taking it from her hands when realize that she's been holding the paper for too long. The shrink just looks straight into Ally's eyes without blinking. "You're not crazy," Dr. Schaufman said suddenly. She then takes the papers from Ally's hand. "You're only here to find out if you are," she continued.
Interesting... Ally thought. "Wow... You're reading my mind," Ally said cynically.
Dr.Schaufman ignored the cynical comment. "Tell me everything I need to know no matter how crazy they sound," she ordered. Aren't psychiatrist supposed to asks questions nicely? But this shrink is ordering her. It's not like what Ally thought at all. Well, now that she's here and all the people she knew would not even believe her, why not she just tell it all to this bad-ass doctor?
"I'm not hallucinating. I'm not sure if I do because I really don't know what hallucination is about. I mean, people won't know if they are hallucinating, right?" Ally said. Dr. Schaufman only nodded, listening attentively. "But I know that I'm not because... Okay, it's like this. Since my family died, things are visiting me at night. Strangely, only at night," Ally explained and realized that by explaining and talking about it, made her see clearly of what the current incident is all about. "At first, it was my family. They're like back from the dead and everything is like normal. Like they're not even dead and they have no clue why I'm crying when I see them. Then, I saw a faceless girl,"
"Faceless girl?" Dr. Schaufman said, sounding interested instead of finding Ally being absurd.
"Yes. She has no face at all. And then, a girl came out of my parents' bedroom and attacked this faceless girl. Oh and not to mention, the faceless girl is like my sister. She didn't have a face but the cloth she was wearing and her hairstyle were a lot like Trisha, my eldest sister. Anyway, that girl had sharp teeth all over and black eyes. Like totally black. She ate the faceless Trisha. I know this doesn't make any sense..but..." Ally continued talking and telling the doctor everything of the past incidences.
The session ended. Ally felt relieved as she left Dr. Schaufman's office. She had found a few starting points to start her investigation after the talking. Firstly, they only came at night and only at her house. She didn't have that kind of visits at Aunt Morry's house. Secondly, her parents' bedroom. The girl came out from there. She needs to look around inside that room. And lastly, she must also find evidences of their existence, like hair, or blood, perhaps? She is determined. She must find out the truth.
As Ally left, Dr. Schaufman quickly dial a private number only she knew of from her memory into her cellphone. A woman picks up the phone, "Unit D32. How may I help you?"
"This is Dr. Shelly Schaufman, code 45209. Can you pass the line to the 'D32 Extermination Unit'? I believe I may have found a Lora, sighted by a fifteen-year-old girl. Request for immediate 'Search and Destroy'."
