Mel stared blankly at her computer screen. She sighed. Would Phil ever reply? But why would he. He could have anybody at her high school. Anybody. But she... she was that kid. The shy little girl who nobody wanted to know. And now Gill, her only best friend had found a date for the prom and she was left with nobody. If only Phil would. But she stopped. There was a face on the screen. And hands. Hands were reaching out to get her. She scrambled out of her chair. The hands were bashing against the screen and the man's face was screaming, but no sound came out of the computer. He looked wild and desperate. He was manic. He was scared. Blood was smeared over his face and clotting on his beard. His eyes were pale and his mucky brown fringe was soaked with sweat and rain.
Mel turned but tripped. The lights went off. There was a burst of thunder. The ground shook. The world started turning and the man was still there lurching at her from inside her computer screen and then suddenly the hand were coming out. But she felt something behind her and it was the touch of rough hands around her neck. And it was the chill breathing of delighted man. And it was puke. And it was sick.
But suddenly there was a screaming flash and the lightening that was outside brought the electrics down not only of the lights, but of the mains as well. The computer blinked and flashed off. The grip resided.
But the breath was thrown out of her again as she felt a kick in the back and sword plunge through her back. With her last few breaths she felt the warm red liquid flow out of her stomach and she heard a voice saying;
