She strethched out her body, and reached for the alarm, slapping it down hard.
She turned towards Ellis, but he wasn't there. Zoey became alarmed. She sat bolt upright in bed.
"Ellis sweetie?"
Silence.
Her heart sunk but then she noticed the wooden tray placed upon his nightstand.
Relief took over, she found herself smiling, he truly was her dream man.
She grabbed the plate, and dug in.
She took a sip of O.J when she noticed a slip of paper stuck to the bottom.
My darling Zoey, you're my everything. I wish to never leave you, but unfortunately I had to go to Wal-Mart for a few things. Please do not worry. Love you always, E.
P.S - Will you marry me?
Zoey was ecstatic, I better call him, she thought.
Of course she'd marry him - he was her everything.
Her daddy would have been so happy for her.
Such a shame he wouldn't be there to see her walk down the aisle.
* * * * * It was 9:32am when Ellis returned. He quickly put all the groceries away.
He quickly put the kettle on.
Zoey was crying as he walked into the bedroom, he rushed over to her.
"Darlin' what's wrong with you?"
She looked up trying to stop,
"I'm sorry sweetie, I was so happy with your proposal but it got me thinking, my pops won't be there."
He rubbed her back sympathetically.
"He'll be there, darlin', even if it's in spirit."
She looked at him, smiled and nodded.
He wiped away her tears.
"I love you Zoey, so will you marry me?" he asked again, this time producing a ring.
She gasped. It was beautiful.
She jumped at him, knocking the tray off the bed.
"Yes, Yes a million times yes!"
