They Sense in the Moonlight

A poem I wrote based on a dream I had. I tend to write a lot of stories based on dreams. Obviously, most dreams/nightmares don't follow story, but I use them for inspiration. The iage I uploaded is a sketch I made for the black demons.

I thought I could walk home safely.

But security tends to evade me.

Shrubs shrowded in the shadow of night.

Wilderness void of the magic of light.

The asphalt faded into a world of dark.

All was still except for my heart.

… … … … … … … … … … … … … …

They crawled out of the ground and reached from the trees.

Black little figures that do as they please.

Eyes glowing yellow, teeth red and white.

Snapping their jaws preparing to bite.

Some slithered, some crawled, some ran in high speeds.

It's their time of night to pillage and feed.

The moon re-appeared and now they could see.

The meal for the night was obviously me.

I dropped all my things and started to run.

But they were behind me, now surely they've won.

They sank to the ground, "My chance to escape?"

But they rose once again and took on a new shape.

They attached to eachother laughing out loud.

A hideous phantom stood before me now.

Fifteen feet tall, it howled at the moon.

My end was approaching all too soon.

It raised an arm in the air preparing to strike.

My body went numb as my sense of fear spiked.

These are my last thoughts, Please think them through.
