A Devil at My Door

Poetry By: Luna Hayes
Horror

This poem, like most of my poems, is inspired by true events in my life. The struggle against my addiction to cutting in my early teens. And my poor mental health at the time .

A Devil At My Door

The melody is beautiful

The face of my temptation.

He knows my every weakness,

Sinking into my damnation

Heart pumped with adrenaline

As the knife goes deeper.

Sweet joys in this reunion

With a grim and waiting reaper.

I hear a knocking at the door

A voice calls out to me in pain.

Screaming in the hollow .

Calling out for sweet relief and a better day tomorrow.

Only one can sing this song Of fear and misery.

Lucifer the angel of light

Before he fell to darkness for trickery.

This sweet sweet cry of agony it pulls at my inner being

And i feel obligated to answer

Knowing that the devil is creeping

Nearer and nearer the sounds i hear them.

Oh why must it call to me so sweetly

Just one taste of this poison in my veins.

And fall into a slumber for my vision is bleary.
