Horror Haiku Collection: Lost Souls in Torment

Poetry By: Philip Roberts
Horror

Despite what the know-it-alls think, there are minimal rules to writing haiku. It is best to stick to 17 syllables or less; but even that is not a golden rule.

GHOST LIGHTS
Ghostly lights beckon
Iridescent shimmerings,
Take whoever will come.

GHOSTLY BLACK FIGURES
Ghostly figures near
Clothed in black with flowing capes,
Weaving taboo lore.

GHOSTLY IMAGES

Wispy, ghostlike images
Move through the shadows;
Creeping ever nearer.

GHOSTLY PHANTOM IMAGES

Dark shadows hiding
Ghostly phantom images,
Leaping out at you.

THE IMMORTAL DARKNESS

Night's spreading shadows
Hiding leering, slinking things,
Creeping up behind.

IMMORTAL FEARS

Immortal fears pass
Through the lonely night streets,
When innocents sleep.

THE IMMORTAL NIGHT

The immortal night
Spreading fear with passing shades,
Terror chills your heart.

THE IMMORTAL SHADOWS

Immortal shadows
Spreading fear by passing near:
Warning signs of death.

IMPOSING STONE MANSIONS

Imposing stone mansions
House all kinds of horrors,
Skulking in the dark.

LOST SOULS IN TORMENT
(II)
Lost souls in torment
Writhing round in anguish;
Crying out in terror.

A LOW WHISTLING IN THE NIGHT

Low whistling at night
Warning of mounting danger;
Evil drawing near.

A LULLABY IN MADNESS
A morbid lullaby
An evil dirge of pain;
Agony of life.

LADY DIANA?
Who murdered Lady Diana?
MI5 because she's British or,
MI6 because she was overseas?

THE VALKYRIES (III)
Beautiful maidens
Riding upon winged-chargers,
To claim dead heroes.

MERCILESS SPIRITS LOOMING
Merciless spirits
Hover near open graves,
Looming out at you.

THE MESSENGERS OF HELL

At night you dream of
Long-forgotten beings:
The messengers of hell.

MIDNIGHT BREEZES
Midnight breezes blowing
Spreading an evil scent far,
Death is on the wind.

MIDNIGHT CALLERS
Midnight callers creep
In through open windows; slink
Up to their victims.

MIDNIGHT IN HELL (II)
Lost souls tormented
By fiends with razor-sharp fangs,
And lethal black talons.

MIDNIGHT MOON
Midnight moon spreading
Revelations of evil,
Danger signs at night.

MOANING CRIES

Moaning cries echo
Rattling chains are heard within,
A crumbling old house.

THE MONSTER WITHIN

The monster within
The hearts of men and women,
Masterminds our doom.

MOOD AS DARK AS THUNDER
Mood dark and evil
Burning up with hatred, as
You plot sweet revenge.

MORBID DARKNESS

A morbid darkness
Descends on you; drowning you in
Seas of molten fear.

MORBID DREAMS

Morbid dreams torment
You're trapped deep in your own fears,
With nowhere to hide.

MORBID FANTASIES

Morbid fantasies
That death is your lover,
Terror your only friend.

THE MOUNT

Women-shaped demons
Leading a man to a mount,
Killing him on high.

THE MUSIC OF DOOM
(II)
Music resounding
Deep within your mind,
Is keeping you entranced.

THE NAMELESS ABOMINATION
Through the dark void
A nameless abomination,
Oozes ever nearer.

NAMELESS SHADOWS QUAVER

Nameless shadows quaver
Creatures that thrive at night,
Lurking in shadows.

NATURE'S FURY

Storm clouds rise
Thunder crashes like tidal waves,
Susurration of rain.

THE NECROMANCERS

Working late at night
Raising the dead to find,
What the future will bring.

NEW TERROR RISING
(II)
A mushroom cloud soars
Changes to an evil face,
New terror rising.

NIGHT CHILLS

Night chills your body
A cold sweat envelops you,
As footsteps draw near.

NIGHT CRAWLERS

Loathsome slimy beasts
Crawling through the marshlands;
Feasting on the living.

NIGHT CRAWLERS CRAWLING
Night crawlers crawling
Through the dark and sullen night,
Readying to kill.

NIGHT CREATURES LURKING
(II)
Night creatures lurking
In dark shadows out of sight,
As darkfall approaches.

NIGHT CREEPERS

Foul creatures creeping
Around the dark night streets,
Set on doing evil.

NIGHT DANGERS BECKON

Night dangers beckon
Innocent strangers over,
Hunting unwary prey.

NIGHT DEMONS

Night demons caper
Gibbering at the full moon,
Plotting evil acts.
