Horror Haiku Collection: Terror Surging Through Your System

Poetry By: Philip Roberts
Horror

Despite what the know-it-alls think, there are minimal rules to writing haiku. Remember the important thing about Haiku is the feel of the poem, not guidelines others try to force upon you.

NIGHT FLOATERS (II)
Night floaters skimming
Inches above your head,
Drifting down toward you.

NIGHTMARES DESCEND (II)
Night-time descends then

Nightmares take over, to
Cruelly torment your mind.

NIGHT RAVENS (II)
Evil night ravens

Tormenting throughout the night;
Harbingers of doom.

NIGHT WATCHERS (I)
Evil figures crouch

In the deep shadows, and
Watch your every move.

NIGHT WINDS
Eerie, howling winds
So ghostly in their moaning,
Haunting in the night.

NOWHERE LEFT TO HIDE
Evil slinking near
A phantom behind each tree,
Nowhere left to hide.

SECRETS OF THE AGES
Evil secrets passed
Down the generations of
Those who stalk by night.

SCALY ABOMINATIONS
Scaly abominations
Slowly crawl forth from,
Primordial swamps.

THE SCARLET TERROR
The scarlet terror
Circling ever closer,
Hunting out the living.

SECRETS OF THE NIGHT
Secrets of the night:
Evil capering figures,
Creeping up on you.

SEEDS OF DISSENSION
Seeds of dissension
Spread by Doubting Thomases,
Shattering our dreams.

SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT
Your fear peoples the
Shadows of the night, with
Demons that come to life.

SHADOWY IMAGES SWIRL
Shadowy images
Swirling around your room,
Frighten you to death.

SHOGGOTHS CLAWING
Shoggoths are clawing
At your eyes, at your throat,
Is it only a dream?

THE SINISTER ROOM
A sinister room
Beneath a crumbling mansion,
Wailing heard within.

SKELETAL DANCERS
Skeletal dancers
In mouldy rags, waltz to
A broken old record.

A SKELETAL HAND PULLING
A skeletal hand
Is pulling on your ankle,
Yet still you sleep on.

SKELETAL WARRIORS
Skeletal warriors
Risen from aeons' sleep,
War against mankind.

SLENDER HANDS
Loathsome, slender hands
Gossamer filaments like
Tendrils of evil.

SLENDER NAILS
Evil, slender nails
Slashing across your face, slice
As deep as scalpels.

A SLOW DESCENT
Hideous shapes circling
Slowly descend toward,
Unsuspecting prey.

A SLUG NAMED MUGGSLY
A slug named Muggsly:
Slimy, crawling, bloated thing;
If only he'd die!

SNAPPING JAWS
Snout-like noses above,
Gator-like snapping jaws,
Fill your heart with dread.

A SNARLING BEAST SUPS
A snarling beast sups
On throats brutally torn out;
Limbs savagely gnawed.

SOFT VOICES CALLING
In the dead of night
Soft voices whisper; calling you
As footsteps approach.

SOMETHING EVIL
Something evil waiting
Lurking in the shadows,
Watching you approach.

SOULS LOST IN TORMENT
Wispy shapes swirling
Souls now lost to torment,
Evil being paid for.

SOULS LOST TO TORMENT
Souls lost forever
Tormented by memories,
By their evil youth.

SPECTRAL IMAGES
Spectral images
Spreading terror among us,
Fear torments our hearts.

SPECTRAL SHAPES
Spectral shapes flicker
In and out of your vision,
Death is on the way.

THE SPHINX
A giant sphinx lies
Telling you her riddles,
To help to pass the time.

SPINIFEX
Lifeless tundra where
There once had been animals;
Spinifex blows past.

SPIRIT VOICES CALLING
Spirit voices calling
From a desert of darkness,
Warn death lurks nearby.

THE STALKING TERROR
Your life is hanging
By a thin and fraying thread,
Terror stalks your soul.

STARK, CRAVEN TERROR
Stark, craven terror
Walking closely beside you,
Through this evil night.

STONE GODDESS TURNED TO LIFE
A stone goddess moves
Slowly comes to life, rages
Against human kind.

STONE GODS COME ALIVE
Stone gods come to life
Rage against humanity,
Killing all in sight.

STONE MONUMENTS (I)
Ancient stone monuments

Used by lost cultures,
To worship evil gods.

STRANGE ARCHAEOLOGY (I)
Grave-robbers stumble

Across corpses that come to life;
Reaching out for them.

TERROR SURGING THROUGH YOUR SYSTEM
Terror surging through
your system: Adrenaline
pumping: Heart racing.

THE END
