Horror Haiku Collection: The Aroma of Death

Poetry By: Philip Roberts
Horror

Despite the false rules some people lay down, haiku can be titled or untitled, one, two, three, or four lines in length. Although three lines is the most common form.

ANGRY GOD (I)
Angry God raging
Thinning the human herd;
Chaos, not miracles.

THE ARMS OF EVIL
Evil surrounds us
Spreads its arms like a lover,
Calls us to our doom.

THE AROMA OF DEATH
Within the dark woods
A lunatic lurks, bearing
The aroma of death.

ATMOSPHERE HEAVY WITH FEAR
Souls in depression
Atmosphere heavy with fear,
Fearful thoughts torment.

AN ATMOSPHERE LADEN WITH TENSION
Tension in the air;
Mournful, howling, Banshee winds;
Evil on the breeze.

BAD DREAMS APPEAR
Wicker basket filled
With nightmares; bad dreams appear
And walk through the night.

A BEAUTIFUL GHOST
A beautiful ghost
Glowing, gliding, flowing,
Electric blue aura.

THE BEST OF FRIENDS
Boa constrictors
Embracing you as though you're,
All the best of friends.

BLACK MAGIC CIRCLES
Black magic circles
Where Satanic disciples,
Conjure up demons.

BLACKOUTS
After strange blackouts
You wake to find evil,
Done by your own hands.

A BLINDING HAILSTORM
A blinding hailstorm
Hiding death from travellers,
Great danger lurking.

A BLINDING THUNDERSTORM
Blinding thunderstorms
Raging outside at night,
Bring a flood of terror.

BREAKING POINT
There's a point when evil
Seems the only path left;
Nothing pure survives.

CAPERING FIGURES (I)
With evil intent
Horrid, capering figures,
Creeping up on you.

CARNIVORES APPROACH
Sounds of a leopard
Sounds of a lion, or bear,
Carnivores approach.

CATASTROPHE
Elder gods fighting
In faraway
Valhalla,
Brings catastrophe.

CHILDREN OF THE DARKNESS
Children of darkness
Prowl through the night alleyways,
Evil on their minds.

CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT (I)
Children of the night
Young demons in the making,
Learning how to kill.

THE CHIMERA
A chimera rests
In the hot desert sands,
Glancing toward you.

A COBRA POISED
A cobra is poised
Rearing, readying to strike,
Inches from your face.

COLD FIRE (I)
Cold fire burning brightly
Chills you to the marrow,
Burning without heat.

COLD SWEAT (II)
A cold sweat grips you
Too terrified to move, as
Fiends lurch toward you.

THE CREATURES OF THE DARKNESS
Evil impulses rule
The creatures of the darkness,
Creatures spawned in hell.

A CRUMBLY OLD HOUSE (II)
Eerie rattling chains
Moaning cries are heard within,
A crumbly old house.

DANGER IN THE WOODS
Danger in the woods:
Night creatures prowling around,
Stalking you unseen.

THE DARK BROTHERHOOD
A dark brotherhood
Sworn to do evil against,
All who live outside.

THE DARK NEIGHBOURHOOD
The dark neighbourhood:
Where capering demons wait,
To invade your dreams.

DARKNESS IN HER SOUL
Darkness in her soul
Evil guides the actions,
Of this woman from Hell.

DARK OF THE MOON
Dark moon overhead
Foreteller of great evil,
Creeping, slinking death.

A DARK RITUAL
A dark ritual
Performed on a lonely hill,
Far from prying eyes.

THE DARK SIDE OF THE NIGHT
Dark side of night, where
Evil stalks the alleys, to
Search for lonely souls.

DARK SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT (II)
Night's dark shadows hide
All manner of evil,
Lurking just out of sight.

DARK STAR (II)
Dark star sends no warmth
Down to the chilled minions,
Of this frozen land.

THE DARK STONE
A dark amulet
Made of burnished black stone,
Used to ward off evil.

DARK WINGS OVERHEAD
Dark wings overhead
Block out the sun and cast,
Fearful shadows below.

DEATH COMES YOUR WAY
Too afraid to scream
Open mouths screaming silently
Death comes your way.

DEATH DREAMS (I)
Visions of death
Tormenting you all night long;
Self-immolation.

EAGLES (I)
Eagles are clawing
At your eyes, at your throat,
Is it only a dream?

ELDER GODS WAR
On doom-laden Yuggoth
Faraway in space and time,
Elder gods war.

EVIL AFTER
MIDNIGHT
Loathsome creatures hunt
Throughout the streets and alleys,
Seeking human prey.
