Horror Haiku Collection: The Darkness Welcomes You

Poetry By: Philip Roberts
Horror

Haiku can be on any subject. Certainly there is no reason why it should not cover horror and vampire themes.

ALPS
Surrender yourself
To death's sudden icy grip,
Lost out in the
Alps.

ANCIENT BEINGS (II)
Ancient beings from
Some twilight world: forgotten yet,
Very far from gone.

BECKONING FINGERS
Pale fingers beckon
From a dark corner, where
Unseen demons lurk.

BLOOD HUNGER
Blood-hunger sharpened
By millennia underground;
Appetite stirs.

BLOOD THIRST
Hot liquid flows
From severed arteries,
Savoured like vintage wine.

BREAKFAST TIME
Ancient sleepers wake
From a thousand-year slumber,
Eager now to feed.

BRUTALLY SEVERED JUGULARS
Jugulars severed
Brutally, by graveyard fiends,
Lusting after blood.

CORPSE-LIKE FIGURES WRITHE
Corpse-like figures writhing
Half crazed with hunger, caused
By the need for blood.

CREATURES OF DARKNESS
Life devolved to forms
Too monstrous to contemplate,
Creatures of darkness.

DANGER IN THE WOODS
Danger in the woods:
Night creatures all around you,
Slowly closing in.

DANGER SIGNS IN THE DARK
Danger signs in the dark
Night-time evil approaching
Evil crouching near.

THE DARK LADY
The dark lady nears:
The mistress of the night,
Eager to taste warm blood.

DARKNESS
Night evil beckons
Darkness roars down to its prey,
Unwary below.

DARKNESS COMES
Darkness comes:
Evil creeps up on you,
Using the shadows for cover.

DARKNESS EMBRACES YOU
The darkness embraces you
Holds you like a lover,
Drags you to your doom.

THE DARKNESS WELCOMES YOU
Darkness welcomes you
With long, shadowy arms,
Drawing you to danger.

DARK RITUALS
Dark rituals performed
Under the cover of night,
On a lonely hill.

DARK SEAS
Dark seas crash to shore
Under starless, moonless skies,
Piscine horrors near.

THE DARK THREAT
Dark threat approaching
Danger rushing like the wind,
Racing toward you.

DARK WATERS (I)
Dark waters crash on
Lifeless continents;
Humanity now deceased.

DARK WINGS CIRCLING
Dark wings are circling
Blocking out the sunlight,
Spreading terror below.

DARK WINGS HOVERING (II)
Dark wings hovering
Blocking out the moon,
Larger than any known bird.

DAWN OF THE UNDEAD (I)
Evil, shambling fiends
Stalk the loathsome night, hunt
Unwary travellers.

THE DEADLY NIGHT
Darkness descending
Endless blackness overhead,
Night as still as death.

DEATH STREET
Pale skinned monsters lurk
In the basement of a house,
In a nameless street.

DARK WATERS MEWLING
Dark seas crash on black shores
Producing strange sounds like,
Mewling from the waters.

DEAD TOWN
Evil creatures haunt
A neighbourhood in hell,
No one dares go outside.

DEATH ADDERS
Death adders hissing
At the night; striking from rage;
Knowing no fear.

DEATH CARRIERS
Spreading death and fear
They move slowly through the night,
Bringing doom to all.

DEATH COMES CALLING (II)
Horror floods through your system
You're drowning in your fear,
As death comes calling.

DEATH COMES YOUR WAY
Too scared to whimper
Open mouths screaming silently
Death comes your way.

DEATH IN BLACK RAIMENTS
An angel of death
In black raiments; wielding a
Razor-sharp sickle.

DEATH IS IN THE AIR (I)
Whispery death breezes
Howling out like banshees,
Death is on the way.

DELIGHT
Starving mouths feeding
From brutally severed throats,
Gurgling from delight.

DEMONS FEASTING
Dreaming of terrors
You awake to find demons,
Feasting upon you.

DEMONS IN BURIAL GROUNDS
Demons in burial grounds,
Creep up on the mourners,
Eager for a feed.

DEMONS REACHING
Dark shadows lengthen
As demons in the gloom,
Reach out for the living.

DREAMING OF VAMPIRES
Dreaming of vampires
Night after night, year after year
Without respite.

AN EVIL BEQUEST
Evil lusts bequeathed
By long-dead relatives,
Make you fear the sunlight.

EVIL FIGURES LURK
Evil figures lurk
Round lonely burial grounds,
Hunting human prey.
