The mist covers the streets

Only the moon

Reflects the hidden faces of those

Passing on by

Heading to the river

To drown in sorrow

Or to wash it all away

As the tears float down the river

Which churns westward

To find itself in the eternal sea.

I try to see their faces

But it is alas,

A failure for they covered themselves

In their demonic ways

They pretend to be saints

Yet they come to the river from the forests

That are left in a blaze

From the very sins that only angels are

Capable of committing.

All and their mothers mother will deny

Such sacrilege of the forest,

Full of innocence bliss

But the flame is melting their masks

Along with their face

So a new mask is born

Upon the retched faces

One of the ashened skeletol portayal

Of the darkness lying within us all

For we all are these sinners that I see before me

And my face burns too

The pain to much for me to take

Roiling, boiling, toiling

The flames now on the oil crested ground

Leap onto my back ,

Causing the clothes to burn through

Until the skin is nothing but scrap cloth

Flapping in the wind

To send myself flying into the moonlight

Only to fall like Icarus

Only I am his darker conterpart

For as we advance

We only move to self distruction

Or better yet suicide.

So fall into the ocean

Where you shall find me

Resting with my mask

Looking into the mirror that

Reflecting my image that is battered and tarnished

Beyond recognition.

What have I done to myself?

For I am beyond recognition

And have lost myself,

For I don't see me

But something darker

Something horrid and grotesque

What have I done?
