“Who will you be when the flag falls?
What will you do when the flag falls?
Where will you be when the flag falls?
Will you fight along my side?
Will you scream when I die?
Will you run away and hide?
When the flag falls…
Will your family cry my tears?
Will you ease all their fears?
Is this soldier’s death in vain?
Do you see the blood in the rain?
Do even feel any pain?
Forget fighting by my side!
You run away and hide,
Yet you scream when I die!
You screamed when I died!
Like the friend that you are,
you tell others it broke your heart,
but I didn’t leave a mark!
So don’t lie any more, build attention on my lore!
Quit using me for more!
We were friends from the start, before it all fell apart,
Friends from childhood, back when everything was good!
That was way back before, I had ever joined the corps.
I went to fight my war, and you stayed behind once more.
You hid behind locked doors, while your freedom I fought for!
When they brought my body back, my dad had a heart attack.
You mourned for me at first, but your lies hurt me worse.
You said you’d have my back, where were you when they attacked?
If you had been by my side, I might not have died.
Now a flag drapes my grave.
And to my memory you’re a slave!
I hope you cry every night, the true hero still fights!
You see I never lied, I’m always by your side.
From me you can never hide…
…until the flag falls.”
