"What's the matter? Scared?" Mark said sarcastically as the three girls chuckled to themselves.

"No! There's nothing haunted about this bridge! It's just a myth, and I didn't come all the way out here just to be…" Suddenly, a high-pitched screaming sound echoed throughout the forest, causing Jason to stop in mid-sentence and the three girls to jump.

"What the hell was that?" Lisa shouted.

"Where did that come from?" Ann yelled as everyone shined their flashlights all around trying to figure out where that sound was coming from. Suddenly, there was another scream, louder than the first one, which sounded like a woman screaming in a horror movie. The teens suddenly felt a jolt throughout the bridge as if something heavy had landed on it. They looked at both ends of the bridge's deck to find nothing there.

Then out of nowhere, Kelsey let out a horrific scream as she shined her flashlight up at the steel trusses above them. The rest of the group looked up to see a creature crouching on a steel truss, staring down at them like a hawk stalking its prey. The creature had bat-like wings that spanned wider than the width of the bridge's deck, and it was covered in feathers from head to toe. Its hypnotic glowing red eyes stared directly at the teens, and the creature showed its fangs as it hissed and growled at them.

The girls screamed as the group ran for their lives toward Mark's car. The creature let out a screech as they sprinted across the bridge. As they ran, a couple of the teens dropped their flashlights, leaving them behind on the deck of the bridge. Just as the group got off the bridge and onto the dirt path, Kelsey suddenly tripped and fell into the weeds.

"Help me!" Kelsey screamed. Mark stopped running and helped Kelsey get back onto her feet just as the rest of the group were almost to his car.

The monster continued to let out ear-splitting screeches that echoed throughout the forest. Ann, Jason, and Lisa began to get into the car as they saw the glowing red eyes of the creature flying over the trees in the starlit sky.

"Come on, hurry up!" Jason yelled out to Mark and Kelsey. Jason got into the car, and Ann and Lisa were already in. Mark and Kelsey split up, with Kelsey getting into the passenger side and Mark into the driver's side.

"Come on, let's get out of here!" Kelsey screamed as Mark fumbled with the keys, trying to find the right one. They continued to hear the screeches of the monster, which seemed to be getting louder. Mark put the key into the ignition and turned it. The car vibrated as the car's engine started, and he turned on the headlights. All of the sudden, the monster appeared in the beams of light from the car's headlights, causing the girls to scream their lungs out in terror. The creature was standing upright with a height of 7 feet or more, and its prominent red eyes glowing hotly.

"GO! GO! GET OUT!" Lisa screamed. The teens panicked as Mark stepped on the gas and pulled out of the dirt lot, speeding down the deserted country road.

"What the hell was that?" Ann yelled.

"I don't know, but I've never seen anything like that!" Mark said to Ann as he tried to pay attention to the road. Jason and Lisa looked behind them through the back window and watched the landscape disappear behind into the darkness. Suddenly, Lisa shouted, "its right behind us!"
