Demise of the Copper Penny

Poetry By: Ava Rosien
Humor

The U.S. Mint has said they will no longer mint the penny coin. (Poor Abe.) A very short verse to say farewell to the one cent coin.

Demise of the Penny Coin

A penny for my thoughts you say?

A penny won't buy the time of day.

Inflation has jacked the price you see;

Lincoln just isn't the man he used to be.

The copper coin once served a purpose;

now the cent is just unwanted surplus.

A penny for my thoughts you say?

At least a nickel you'll have to pay!
