One of my reel passions is fishing. I'm reel-ly hooked on it. Hope you have a reel good time reading this poem.

I'm a wishin, that I was a fishin.

A day at the lake is what I have in mind,
a more enjoyable outing I'll never find.
Up with the sun and out to my truck,
I think I'll go fishing and try out my luck.

Water, sun, a cold drink and a snack,
I launch the boat and don't look back.
Motor away to my favorite hole,
and ignore everthing past the tip of my pole.

The real pros, they make it seem hard,
with structure and clarity and a complex score card.
Think like a fish, complicated indeed.
Think like a lure, now that's more my speed!

Rod in hand I tie on the bait,
What the fish might desire, I leave it to fate.
The big one is out there just waiting, I know.
I expect him with every cast that I throw.

It's not just about fishing, there's much more to do,
like dreaming, relaxing, and enjoying the view.
So take a day off from the grind for a while,
a chance to sit back with a great big smile.

Your cares unwind like line from a reel,
forget about work, it's no big deal.
Bring your wife, or your daughter, or son.
Heck, take em all, it's great family fun.

Time on the lake isn't time away from life,
but it is a break from worry and strife.
So take my advice, put your cares all away,
take a day off and go fishing today.
