Madonna on the Rocks

Poetry By: Chris Gerard

A slight depature for me, some may think it cruel, but if 'artists' can impose themselves on our lives, then we have the right to comment on what they present to us, surely? With apologies to her fans, some of whom I know, and one of whom I was, a long, long (long)time ago.

Madonna on the Rocks

Madmomma, Madonna
Would like us all
To gaze upon her

But let's be fair
Who wants to stare
At a fifty-year old woman
In her underwear?

I must observe
It takes some nerve
Targeting an audience
Of middle-aged perves

Queen of Pop?
Please please stop
Running round the graveyard
Like a mutton chop

Get some help, reinvent yourself

Come back as a human or a Christmas elf

Come back as a chicken

Come back as a boar
Come back as a rug
Laid on a dancehall floor

Come back as a lady
'When your bod with age is hoar'
Come back as a cabinet
But cover your drawers
