BATH TIME BLUES

Home from football, I was soaked in sweat

Longing to disrobe, get under shower jet

Took off all my clothes, clean undies were set

Walk to the bathroom…my wife said "Not yet".

She'd been to "keep-fat" and was sweating as well

Taps already flowing, her bath it did swell

I tried to explain I was ready for ablution

Alas my wife had alternative solution.

I say "Tuesday is MY night for getting wet"

"Oh well, I'm very sorry!" was the answer I met

In teacher's voice said "When I'm done…

……….you can jump in and wash your bum".

Watched her face, anticipating joke

All I received was a whimsical poke

Fingers she used in effecting the prod

Convert to a signal meaning "Sling it, sod".

I took exception to this treatment so mean

At this point my daughter entered the scene

"Mum, I'll have that bath after you…

…Dad can have his shower when I've had my poo".

You may conclude that I was being bullied

Don't want family name to be sullied

I tell this story with acknowledging smile

Truth is…respect due……..I like their style!
