I USED TO BE A BABY

I used to be a baby, I used to be a boy.

Where now there's something serious, there used to be a toy.

I once had long hair and was particularly gregarious.

Now I long for some hair…..and a style less hilarious.

Hitching, drinking, sexing and drugging.

All relented to the power of group-hugging.

I'd lived my life, slowly coming to my senses.

There's no 'I' in team, but an 'us' in consensus.

I raised my kids, the happiest I'd been.

I worked for years, the happiest has-been.

In sixteen years, I will be seventy in tally.

I'm coming to an end………...eventually.

It amuses me still and I think back with joy.

I used to be a baby, I used to be a boy.
