it's in the cards

she's always game for playing cards
she'll snatch them off the shelf
although i'd like to hold her hand
she holds her hand herself
"it's jacks or better", she'll exclaim
although my name is jim
and i might win a game or two
but odds of that are slim
she has a lovely poker face
and never bats an eye
she raises up the ante
till it's "uncle", that i cry
she likes to hold 'em texas syle
clutched tightly to her chin
she'll raise me with a sawbuck
when i've just laid down a fin
though i'm a kind of rummy guy
she says that's sacrilege
and it would never cross her mind
to take a stab at bridge
those jokers aren't enough for her
wild deuces must apply
she raises up the ante
till it's "uncle", that i cry
