some mock the auk when it doth walk
that's mawkish and absurd
don't stalk and squawk at this odd stock
of knees a-knockin' birds
there's an awkward auk in auckland
i hear augie is his name
and this auk's poor feet are so petite
he really can't be blamed
he swam near docks when it was hot
all swamped and soggily
and on the rocks when it was not
he wobbled groggily
now his daddy and his mumsy
and his siblings were all clumsy
all except his brother, roger
who was crafty as a dodger
met a gaudy auk named maudie
who was stocky in the body
lotsa aukies he did father
seven sons and seven daughters
but his life then teeter tottered
and his marriage got so rocky
that his maudie, oh so gawky
flocked to southern nagasaki
that's the ending of my saga
hope it didn't make ya gaga
and this is the final stanza
of my auk extravaganza
