Love Got My Concentration
By Nancy Konkar
It started as admiration
From there we jumped to flirtation
Bound was a congratulation
I created a fairytale without hesitation
Damn me and my imagination
I guess I didn’t care for my reputation
It shocked me, but It struck me later
In my imagination, I was indeed a creator
And I simply became a hater
Because he wanted to date her
And I was just his stupid neighbor
He was no longer my dream maker
I decided to get on a vacation
And I would get him out of the equation
I started the detoxification
But it felt more like dehydration
And I got to the frustration
I had no motivation
But I couldn’t let go of the realization
I was not the reason for his distractation
Oh wait, that wasn’t even good dictation
He made me lose my concentration
This doesn’t work for rhyming
But I need to get him out of my system
Two years later, he comes to me
“I can make you happy, you’ll see”
He seems to have a crush on me
He invites me over for tea
“What an idiot” now I believe
“You weren’t into me,
So I found me another”
That doesn’t rhyme either
excuse me, I’m just trying to tell a story
I’m no poet
but I liked that the first few lines rhymed
I knew it
and I’m running out of time
so here’s the ending of this silly rhyme
