I use to be a night rider

now I need the light of day

I use to be a sky writer

now I'm safer on the ground that way.

So I don't get hurt

with a mind of a jerk

that jerks me up and down

like the mind of a clown

that forgets what I'm doing

if I'm grooming or shoeing

the horses that they told me

to hang on to.

I use to be a high roller

now I just brush the base boards

I use to be a cosmic bowler

now I'm safer to stay away from swords.

So I don't get hurt

with a mind of a jerk

that jerks me up and down

like the mind of a clown

that forgets what I'm doing

if I'm grooming or shoeing

the horses that they told me

to hang on to.

Now they're dumber than a stoned rock

because I don't have the first horse

I use to give them a shock

now I'm safer staying off the race course.

So I don't get hurt

with a mind of a jerk

that jerks me up and down

like the mind of a clown

that forgets what I'm doing

if I'm grooming or shoeing

the horses that they told me

to hang on to.

Hold on to your horses and wait

now just what's that suppose to mean

Damn it to hell for Heaven's sake

said the craziest doctor that I've ever seen.

Hope he doesn't get hurt

with a mind of a jerk

that jerks me up and down

like the mind of a clown

that forgets what he's doing

if he's grooming or shoeing

the horses that he told me

to hang on to.
