Dark Chocolate Rebellion
Disregard all ad shouting
Every hint of ad touting
Do this -- every time, every where
Soundly cover my ears
Crack and drink a few beers
Mute the TV and sulk in my chair
I lower my eyes
Say my goodbyes
Simply will not purchase their goods
Just read my book
And just will not look
Defy all their ‘oughts’ and their ‘shoulds’
If it ever is seeming
The ad-rain is teeming
I pull up my hood and my boots
Duck the ads and their stare
And the rocket’s red glare
The ad-men toot tooting their toots
But my Universe leans
When I hear jelly beans
Are sold now in dark chocolate dip
When it’s said they taste great
That rousts up my hate
My taste buds begin to un-clip
Dark chocolate’s great stuff
Now it’s part of a bluff
Jelly beans can not be refined
They’ve turned Truth to duff
They’re selling straight guff
And I, for one, am not blind
I’m calling all of you out
To help put up a shout
Dark Chocolate Lovers United
We’ll call it a ruse
Shun this amuse-bouche
Tell the world the ad-guys are benighted
Come on, join with me now
Lets us show them all how
While the power of few can be vast,
The power of many
Ran off Henny Penny --
So let’s see who truly laughs last!
