Oh, What a Little Moonlight Can Do-oo-oo

Poetry By: Wilbur

Humor Formatted moonphish style and why o why has it taken me so long! This is for MA's challenge on a song title. I've incorporated and Owl and a Hedgehog with a loon thrown in briefly. Fun for me. Fun, I hope, for you.

Oh, What a Little Moonlight Can Do-oo-oo

You just never know
As this small tale will show
What some moonlight might be a-doing
When our hedgehog was tossed
She was instantly lost
And besides, her head coo-cuckoo-ing
A loon out on the lake
Now fully awake
Was up calling loony-loo loo-ing
While up in a tree
An old owl he
Was quietly boo-boo boohooing
The hedgehog as a gift
Had created a rift
Left a household boiling and stewing
Seems hedgehogs are illegal
Really not very regal
Constant eating and constant poo-pooing
So she's been thrown down
At the far edge of town
Let's continue, see what's to befall
She's walked for a mile
And tho' fit and agile
She's no country sense, none at all
So, dead on her feet
She's settled for sleep
'Neath owl's tree she's rolled into a ball
Now the very old owl
Is in a mood foul
The moonlight has his sight mis-cuing
And he's just lost his mate
To a terrible fate
A fast car come skidding and skewing
His mate dining still
On fresh roadside kill
Got smacked way up fifteen feet
Came down with a crash
No, make that a splash
Leaving him and his life incomplete
Now the bright moonlit night
Has diminished his sight
So his hunting perforce he's eschewing
His sight darkened and dim
When the hedgehog rolls in
He thinks it prey worth pursuing
Oh - misjudgment injurious
Both painful and curious
He's skewered instead of he's chewing
Our hedgehog's unfurled
Her spines bristly not curled
Soon the owl is hoo-hoo hoo-hooing
Made the loon on the lake
Yell out, for Pete's sake
And leave town for Northwestern Sooch-ooing
But it comes out all right
By the end of the night
Owl and hedgehog are happy two-twoing
They'd made quite a kerfuffle
Set up quite a scuffle
As the two of them parried and parted
There is no way of knowing
Which what where was going
Except that the old owl farted
Don't ask me how they
Unharmed could parlay
I don't want to know what or how
Yes, hedgehog and owl
Yes, I'm seeing you scowl
You're taking my meaning now
I can't tell you truly
How they got unruly
Without doing harm to my head
Lets move on to the meaning
Of this zoo-rated screening
And heed to its point instead
This story's small moral
Is never to quarrel
With a song about moonlight and you
If even those two
Were moved to woo-woo
Oh, what a little moonlight can do
