I have decided to discover what the real meaning of life is. Douglas Adams says 42 or some rather arbitrary number like that in his many-paged book. After much deliberation, I found that I didn't agree with Adams definition of the meaning of life. Thus i embarked on my journey to find out what the meaning of life is.
I found myself at a hospital at the bed of a dying old man. Being old and that and living for longer than most people, and being near death and all, I figured he might have some useful and good observations. I ask him: "What is the meaning of life?"
He looks at me with faded wrinkled eyes and breathes in heavily, then coughs up some blood and dies. I thank him for his insight as I realise it must have taken quite a bit of effort to tell me that the meaning of life is death in such a manner.
Moving to the next ward, I decide to go to the other end of the scale. I ask a 4-minute-old baby what its opinions are on the meaning of life. I'm not quite sure whether the baby understood me so i repeat the question loudly. It begins to cry and I obviously haven't realised how much of an emotional question this can be. I try to catch a word or two amidst the wailing and crying but i have obviously struck an emotional chord with the baby so I decide to leave.
I decide to ask a doctor as doctors see first hand the gain and loss of life everyday. "The meaning of life is extremely broad as it differs through different time periods and diverse cultures and heritages. In our modern times it would weigh heavily on the social status of a person as a rich or poor person would certainly have opposing views." The doctor continues talking for many minutes as my ears struggle to listen to his nonsense. "Thanks so much," I say to him sarcastically. He doesn't notice the sarcasm and he smiles saying he is glad to help. Well that was completely useless. I agree never to ask any sort of academic or intellectual again about the meaning of life as they clearly do not know what they are talking about.
I go home and ponder on the tiresome days events at the hospital. The only bit of information I really got was that the meaning of life is death.
Waking up the next morning, I decide that today I'm going to ask the general public. I leave my apartment still rolling a thought in my head... is the meaning of life death? Crossing the street in a dazed state with a coffee in hand, I feel the warm sun on my back. I murmur to myself: "What is the meaning of li...
A truck driver presses the brakes hastily but they won't work. The driver's steering has jammed as well. The driver sits in a state of shock as his 5-ton truck hurtles through an intersection. A thud is heard and a large amount of blood, flesh, bone and brain matter flies onto his windscreen. The truck eventually comes to a halt 200 metres later along with a dead broken body.
