In an investigation that takes him through the Boston...
I’m a funhound, an entrepreneur, and a serial adventurer. I grew up in Western Massachusetts where I spent most of my time racing motorcycles, skiing, and looking for excitement wherever I could find it. I attended Williams College, where as an editor of a political journal, I first discovered the delights of writing. After graduation, I lived and worked in many of Boston's urban neighborhoods, mostly as a real estate developer, including Back Bay, Beacon Hill, the South End, and Chelsea. Before my 30th birthday I fell ill, and I spent the next 12 years housebound—and often bedridden--with severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Early in my illness, during a year when I was unable to leave my bed, read, or even listen to music, I began to write a novel in my head to entertain myself. In the years that followed, as my condition gradually improved, I began to type the story, a little at a time. I had many health setbacks and relapses during that decade, but I continued to write every day that I had the strength. The Max Lovely mystery series is a product of those years of silence and internal life. I have since recovered my health and I’m living an active life in Fort Myers, Florida.
