I've never really been particularly fascinated with writing. I hated writing assignments in school and I always did just enough that it would warrant a good grade. Then, recently, my love for stories made me try and find ways I could tell my own. Since making movies was impossible for me and animation wasn't my strong suite, I sat down and wrote a story. It was about Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the incidents he had in his youth, retold in my own style. That story is lost now, I'll probably rewrite it sometime later, but anyways, this made me realize how enjoyable writing can be!
I started actively reading books, in English mostly, and studying the different ways writers played with words. My love for movies also grew, as they told stories in a different, but similar way. I imagined how a writer would describe a scene happening in a movie, or how much more stuff you could add to spice up the moment.
The thing that mostly excited me, though, was the freedom that writing gave me. There I had, in an empty text document, the ability in my hands to create anything I want. The characters, the environments, the events, everything was at the palm of my hand, I just had to let it happen.
My love for writing only grew as I've gotten into the GENIUS Olympiad competitions, and one particular girl has motivated me to keep on writing (Miss Gowatchawitch, sorry, but it's not you, or anyone obvious ;D) . Anyway, I hope that you people will like the things I post. I write everything: poems, short stories, novels, you name it!
