I am a full-time undergraduate student at the University of Birmingham, studying Politics. I first began to study my love of literature at around the age of 16 whilst in my final year of secondary school, studying works such as Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men and poetry of Seamus Heaney. I opted to choose English Literature at A-level after gaining an A at GCSE, and I went on to study Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Wordsworth's The Prelude, Shakespeare's The Tempest and Marlowe's Dr Faustus.
Leaving my sixth form and English Literature, I have gone on to study Political Science at the University of Birmingham, and I have studied the works of; Plato, Machiavelli. Rousseau and John Locke to name but a few.
I tend to aspire to poetry more and I am a huge Dylan Thomas fan. However, I also admire Orwell, Hosseini, Nicholls, Joyce and Dodge.
Throughout my day to day life I seem to always produce ideas for writing, yet of late I have found it difficult to get the chance to put these onto paper and I have decided to return to this site and upload any new work I have created, good or bad, and 'remaster' any of my old poetry to make it as best as possible, as it was a fair few years ago of writing some of them, such as 'Calmful' which I actually wrote when I was 16.
Nature is one of my key muses when it comes to writing, especially poetry, I also heavily rely on music as an inspiration. Ian Curtis, David Bowie, Ben Howard, Keaton Henson, Morrissey all have a profound effect on my writing.
I hope you enjoy reading my old poems, they meant a lot to me at the time, they may not be good quality, but they are not fake emotions and I wrote them nearly three years ago, hopefully I will have more to add soon.
I also am interested in writing longer pieces, shorter stories, after recently reading lots of Mark Twains short tales.
Just wanted to have a stab at my own poetry :)
