I won't be on Booksie as much for a few weeks, but for those who I have promised to read works (the winners of my contest), I promise I will get to them. I just have a lot going on right now. Thanks guys!

I came in second place for SoftDreamer7's Winter Contest in the "Snow" section! :)

I protect the original work of authors. If I see that you have plagiarized another author's work, I WILL POST THEIR LINK ON YOUR STORY. I think it is so sad that someone would steal another author's work. How are you growing as an writer?!

I am 25 years old, and I grew up in a very troubled home. But, I am grateful. That house made the perfect breeding grounds for writing. I never lacked inspiration or emotional substance to keep my writing going. For years, I wrote only short horror stories and dark poetry. However, all that time, I never read a book, I only wrote. As I grew older, I won writing contests throughout my highschool and college career, but writing took a back seat to my other passion: teaching and advocating for people with disabilities. In college, I finally found my love for reading, and that spurred my writing to continue. Books showed me beauty and worlds that I could escape to. While working on my Masters Degree, I decided that I wanted to write a novel. I began with a story and worked on it for two years before I decided that it was not where my heart was. Now,I am currently editing my novel "Resilient" and hope that this one will adequately uncover the world that has been hidden deep within my imagination. I want to share this world with people and would love nothing more than to be published. I don't care about money, recognition, or fame. I just want to feel validated, that my writing is worthy and that I am worthy enough to be called an author. I believe that all writing, like people, no matter how different, deserves to be heard and valued.

These are the winners of my short story writing contest. Their works are amazing! I highly suggest these writers!

1. Rose Burg with "Tracking the Snow" http://www.booksie.com/other/short_story/rose_burg/tracking-the-snow

2. Ashley Shepard with "An Angel in the Snow"  http://www.booksie.com/religion_and_spirituality/short_story/ashley_shephard/an-angel-in-the-snow

Resilient   My Novel

My novel is a young adult, dystopian fantasy, and I will NOT be posting my novel on Booksie due to the simple fact that I want a literary agent to publish my novel.  If you are interested in learning more about my novel, visit my webiste! http://lakinwooliver.webs.com/
