A few days later, I've mustered up enough courage to go back to the flower shop.

"Don't worry, Hailey." Summer answered as she unlocked the main door of the shop, "if I see a single paparazzi around, call my lawyer. Because God knows what will happen if they start suing me for attempted assault."

"And grave threat, " Judy added, grabbing her apron behind the counter. She threw my apron to me, "let's get this over with."

It was around 9 in the morning. Customers were relatively few and I always found myself thinking about Brian. Summer caught me daydreaming while watering the daffodils in the nursery. She took the watering can from my hand. "Alright, Casanova. You better go tend the counter before you drown our flowers to death."

"I'm so sorry," I laughed, a bit embarassed. "I'm usually more tentative than this."

"I know," Summer patted my arm assuringly. "But its worktime now. Judy's off delivering a basket of flowers to the building across ours. I need a living, breathing soul by the counter."

"I'm fully qualified for that." I grinned. I rushed to the counter to see an extremely elegant customer looking around the shop. She wore a white hat with with a very wide brim. She had a cute minimalist white dress. Oh God.  Are those white Jimmy Choos? She took off her Audrey Hepburn-like sunglasses and looked at my direction. I suddenly stood up straight. "Excuse me," she answered. "I'm looking for a personnel here called Hailey?"

My mouth went dry. There was a pause before I piped up, "that's me."

She gave a tight smile and walked up to me. I noticed she was an extremely skinny woman. Almost like a scarecrow. Oh God. I'm scared now. "I'm Laura DiVeria, pleased to meet you." She stuck out a gloved hand. I quickly shook it with mine, "charmed." I answered. Charmed? Since when do I actually say that word when I meet people? She wrinkled her nose as she took another glance of the shop. "Er, do you need anything, Miss DiVeria?"

"Yes,"  Laura raised an eyebrow at me, "I was wondering if you could tell me how Brian Ranchwill could ever fall for someone as..." she practically spat out the next word "...inferior as you. Do you know who I am?"

A walking anorexic with a thing for white? "I'm not sure I do."

She sighed impatiently, tapping her monochrome white fingers on the counter. "Oh dear, oh dear. However will  you survive in the business world? I'm Laura DiVeria, owner of DiVeria real estates." She scowled at me. I mean, if this woman had the nerve, she'd actually hiss at me. Like a cat.  "And aside from that, Brian happens to be my sweetheart."

Urgh. Blood boiling. If this counter wasn't attached to the floor, I would've grabbed it and batted the woman away like a baseball. "It's pitiful how Brian can't see why he should choose someone of equal breeding." She said coldly. Right. She said it as if she's a chihuahua and I'm a mixed sort.

Out of nowhere, Judy dropped a potted plant on the lady's foot. "Oh my goodness! Fuck! I'm so sorry!" Judy exclaimed as Laura practically screamed from the pain.

"Thanks, Judy." I muttered, as I helped her close the shop. Summer had gone off earlier with Wilson to arrange their engagement party. "Aw, no problem." Judy smiled widely. "When she went to the part of equal breeding, that was the straw that broke the donkey's back."

 "It's a camel's back."

"Whatever. Anyway, don't ever listen to single word she said about you and Brian. Don't ever take words from Miss Anorexia Nervosa."
