What everybody needs
Is a reason to go living,
What everybody wants
Is a reason not to give in.

It's a very hard world
So very hard to make good in,
It seems easier by far
To forget it all and give in.
But you have to try
To find some way,
Just to make it through
Yet another day.

Every day is harder
Harder than the day before,
And just staying alive
Is becoming such a chore
But hold on to what
You have -- hold to life,
Fight for your reason
Yes and fight for your rights.

Though we try to keep on going
At times it's too hard,
And at times it seems best
To let chance slip past,
But I know there's a reason
A reason still to try,
So reach for that dream now
Before it slips by.
