Victoria had an 8-month long winter in 2008.

The rain pours down the winter streets
Pounding upon old Melbourne Town,
In June the deluge did begin
But by December the rain still pounds.

The rain and sleet have gone on too long
Until the people are forlorn,
Rain floods right through their houses
Creating a mud pool in their front lawn.

As winter last too many months
June, July, August, September,
We find no springtime comes this year
As winter continues into December.

The winter streets are doused with rain
For more than six months gone,
People now pray for the rain to cease
And for summer to come anon.

The winter streets of
Melbourne Town
Are drenched in rain for six months long,
As winter lasts from June to December
We wonder how much further it can go on:

Will winter last until the New Year
Right through until 2009?
Will winter 2008 ever end?
Will we ever again know sunny times?
