The second date
It was your persistence
That did me in
Why you wanted a second date
Was quite beyond me
Your months of asking
Your patient desire
Made me say ok fine
Just one more, then we are done
You totally outdid yourself again
From the perfect first date
The next clocked in
As wondrously the same
You planned the whole route
From fetching me
To the stroll along the river
Passed a waterfall to settle at a lake
You had a picnic basket
Packed with my dietary needs
You chose a green blanket
To fit in with the grass and leaves
You brought binoculars and a book
So I could see the birds
And understand there calls
From our little nook
You didn’t force conversation
You let me relish the silence
Then cracked jokes in cute moments
Sat beside me in such comfort
A complete gentleman the whole way through
The stroll there, by the waterside
The walk back, without a care
You seemed so content, in the moments there
Thanks for the date
I think it went great
But you need to realise
Someone else must be worth your wait
