I wrote this after realising that poetry was my gift.
Though I was raised in a neighborhood where failure was what every young boy was destined for. I stood well and strong throughout I life. I definitely think that poetry played a big part in this.
With the love and support of a caring family, I withstood the temptations of a sinful life and exceeded my own expectations to become the aspiring poet that I am today.
I’ve looked to my idols for inspiration and to my friends and family for love. Poetry is a highly significant part of my day-to-day routine.
It has served as a coping strategy through the harder times through the years. It is also a way to express my innermost thoughts and feelings.
These poems are based upon the feelings and thoughts going through my mind when they were written. They are not necessarily the way I still feel to this day.
