"What happened?" Mel and Lisa asked.
"I don't know, we were dancing and I looked up and spotted them talking at the bar!" Lourdes said, she had a minute to talk. Gabriel went to go make a phone call.
"Your boy doesn't look happy." Corey said, black eyebrows raised in concern. "What do you think they're talking about?"
"Who knows." Lourdes said shrugging her shoulders. "It could be anything."
"Well, we all know Albear..." Lisa trailed off. Lourdes looked at her waiting for her to continue. Instead, Melody spoke up.
"He's probably raking him over the coals right now."
"Well somethings going on." Tyler said smiling and running his fingers through his short black hair. "Oh man, I would pay anything to be standing where Lamont is right now. To be a fly on the wall for that conversation!"
"What's that?" Lamont asked with attitude, fully back into the conversation. "What exactly do you hate our type?"
"Not your type,” Alex said, “his type.” He took a large gulp of his drink.
"His type?" Lamont repeated putting his hand on his sculpted hip.
"Yes." Alex said not breaking his gaze away from Albear. "You love to fuck with peoples lives. You want it all, you want the girls to love you, you want the boys to love you. You want to run around proving your masculinity, but in the end you never want to take responsibility for anything. You screw up women's private lives, but then you can't back it up physically. You can't be accounted for. You can't pull it off in the end."
Lamont stood between the two of them, angry, but not quite sure what to say. Albear of course, could always be counted on. "Oh I can always pull it off." He said smiling. "Just ask Lourdes." Lamont's lips slightly parted. He didn't expect Albear to go balls out so quickly.
"What the fuck does that mean?" Alex asked putting his drink down, and clearly not hiding his anger.
"Girls or guys," Albear said, "Slept with the best, it's hardly a test, in fact I even had your girl knocked out, pulling up her dress-"
"Alby-" Lamont tried to stop him, smiling anxiously at Alex. But Albear kept going.
"Is that right?" Alex said looking across the room, spotting Lourdes at a table.
"Her g-strings pink and all wet-"
Alex turned back and glared at Albear.
"Albear stop." Lamont tried to say. Was he trying to make him throw the first punch?
"I'll tell Lourdes she should invite your friends along, I'll make them all next. The best sex is what you'll all get."
"Albear we should go. I'll send the waitress to the bar and she'll come right back."
"Sounds like a good idea." Alex said almost in shock from Albear's words.
"Come on Alby, let's get back on the right track." Lamont said.
"Listen to your friend," Alex said, "go back to your table."
"Oh you don't want me to do that, because I'll have your girl with me for the rest of the night...Oops or is it his girl?" Albear said pointing across the room at Gabriel. "Either way, you better tell him to hold her hand, I'm on the attack..."
Albear smiled too. " You can laugh all you want but she's about to get snatched."
"What?" Alex said looking pissed.
"Albear?" Lamont whispered. He knew Alby was about to cross the line. He had already crossed it.
"You heard me." Albear said finishing his drink. "You can give the dick to her once, but she'll give me all that black crack-"
Alex took a step towards him. "Say that again." He said.
"She'll even take the cum in her face, if I want it like that-"
Alex took another step towards him. Lamont put out his arm to keep a wedge between the two of them, but both their bodies were crushing his arm. If they weren't at a stuffy wedding reception, other circumstances might have made this moment hot.
Albear continued talking shit. "Does she let you hit it from the back? A cold pussy snapper, do you know you met your match?" He smiled.
"Is that right?" Alex said through clenched teeth.
"Hardcore sex, dirty talk, but of course you know she's into all that...but my movies will prove all the facts."
Alex clenched both of his fist.
"Bra and panties, pumps and wax-"
"Albear-" Lamont said.
"Sucking dicks, eating ass..."
"Albear!" Lamont grabbed his arm trying to stop him, Albear pushed his hand away, his perfectly sleek brown hair falling into his eyes and took the last step in Alex's face. "Yeah, shawty can go way lower than that." He said. "But then of course, you already know that, don't you?"
"We should do something!" Corey said, big puppy dog eyes worried.
"No." Lisa said, "No scenes, my brother would kill me."
"Well somebodies gotta do something, I'm going to put an end to this." Corey pushed back his chair.
"No!" Lourdes said. "Somebody will see!"
"Look at them!" Corey said jumping up. "Somebodies about to throw a punch and this is all your fault!"
"Corey sit your little bubble butt down." Melody said, furrowing her brows. "Now."
Lourdes mouthed the words thank you to her.
Corey's full lips turned slowly into a frown, but he slowly sat down.
"Nothing like being emasculated by a tough dyke." Tyler said sharply, raising his glass to salut him. Lourdes laughed and Corey nodded his head quickly.
"Oh shut up Ty." Mel said. "Okay this does look somewhat bad, and Lourdes you may have brought this on yourself a little but look at them." They all turned to look. "They're aware of where they are and nobodies going to throw a punch and end up on the 10 o'clock news tonight."
"She's right." Lourdes said, praying in her mind that it was true. "Besides Lamont's right there, he'll keep Albear in control."
"We hope." Tyler said.
"And we all know how Albear likes to control and manipulate." Mel added.
"Hey that's not fair." Lisa said coming to his defense like always.
"All I'm saying is, Albear knows exactly what he's doing." Melody said patting her hand.
"Well would you please tell me what he's doing now?" Lourdes asked. "Because Gabriel just walked up to them."
"Hey mate, alright then?" Gabriel said putting his hand on Alexsander's shoulder.
Alex turned slightly. He unclenched his fist and swallowed hard. "Yeah all good." He said clearing his throat. "Meet some friends of Lourdes'."
"More friends?" Gabe said. "Right, nice to meet you. She didn't tell me that she knew so many people here. I'm Gabe."
"Well hellloooo gorgeous." Lamont said shaking his hand. "And Lourdes never told us how dreamy you are."
"Sure she did." Albear said putting his arm around Lamont's shoulder. "Come on Lam, I need a smoke." He set his drink on the bar and they walked away from them.
Lourdes hurried outside where there was no people around, and Melody was right at her side. Her black phone rung three times, so she finally excused herself, to see what all the constant calls were about. She barely got out a greeting, before she was instantly catapulted into conversation
"What? Are you crazy, I'm not telling you what color my panties are!" She glanced up quickly at Mel embarrassed. She turned away slightly. "I don't know what you're talking about...I can't talk right now." She said into her cell phone.
Melody watched her.
"No." Lourdes said. "Because we had an agreement."
"Who is it?" Mel asked.
Lourdes shook her head at her. From what happened at the bar, Mel could guess it was probably her Hollywood husband.
"You have to stop calling. What? Will you stop yelling." Lourdes stopped talking and put the cell closer to her ear. "He said what?"
Mel smirked, Albear was an asshole but it sounded like he scored some points for the team.
"No." She said again. "I'm not doing it. Because...he's lying...." Lourdes looked at Mel and shook her head again. "He's- stop yelling...He's lying! You have to stop! What? No there is no video!"
Mel laughed, Albear must have really did a number on him.
"He's fucking with you, didn't you get that?"
"I have to go. My answer is no. I gotta go." Lourdes hung up the phone. "Goddamn fucking Albear." She said erasing the last incoming call number.
"What'd he do now?" Mel asked.
"Let's go back inside," Lourdes said, "I'll tell you all about it."
Alexsander walked outside, to find Albear smoking a cigarette.
"Jesus Christ, what the fuck, are you stalking me now?" Albear said, white cigarette dangling from his lips.
"We didn't get to finish our talk."
"I thought that we were done."
"Not quite." Alex said. "What's your beef with me?"
"I don't have a beef with you." Albear took a drag off his smoke.
"Yes you do. I can tell you're in Lourdes' head more than she is. Now why is that?"
"She's a sweetheart," Albear said, "I like to keep her close to me."
Alex nodded his head. "I didn't see it before, but that's because your all the matters to her. I think you may be her entire world, her life."
Albear smiled arrogantly.
Alex continued. "She talks about you like she breathes, it's second nature to her. You seem to be everything she knows.”
"She's one of my closest friends," Albear said defending himself, "since we were eighteen."
"That's almost twelve years of pining for you." Alex said. "You've had this sordid friendship for so long, she actually thinks she's happy."
"And you think you can do better?" Albear cracked.
"I am better. And you and I both know, she's never going to have that fairytale ending with you.”
"And what's that?" Albear asked.
"For you to come through for her.” He said. “Or maybe let you fuck her.”
Albear held back a grin. If he only knew.
"And don't tell me you don't know it, you get off on it, don't you?" Alex got closer in his face.
Albear laughed in disbelief. "Oh, you've been around for what, a week? You think you know her? You don't."
"I'm learning." Alex said. "Everyday and you seem to stall the process as much as you possibly can. It's clear you want me to just disappear."
Albear smiled and nodded his head. "Yeah, that sounds about right."
"Yeah, I can tell you want that and she probably would get over me quickly."
"Maybe you do know her more than I gave you credit for." Alby cracked.
"I do,” he said, “and I'm not going anywhere.”
Albear stopped smiling. He took one last drag on his cigarette and put it out in an ashtray. He exhaled his smoke into Alexsander's face.
"I'm not going to disappear." Alex said unphased. "I'm hers." He got as close to Albear's face as he possibly could. "And she wants me, more than she wants to please you. So if you're really her friend, get out of the way. Let her have her own life. Let her go." Alex started to walk away.
"I'll tell you what," Albear said turning back towards him, "I'll give her up at the very same moment that Gabriel does."
Alex turned and walked back into the reception.
"Fuckin' Euro trash asshole." Albear mumbled as he lit up another cigarette.
