In thoughts of you

Poem By: Brian Peza Perrins
Memoir

I wrote this for my sister-in-law Linda after the death of her husband John, my life long friend. He died in May 2007 of leukaemia. I just hope it brings some form of comfort in difficult times. View table of contents...

I caress your face and eyes of blue
Immerse myself in thoughts of you

I thank the lord the day we met
The moment we spoke hard to forget

Those sparkling eyes and smile so sweet
Life’s great gift makes me so replete

Dancing across the floor at night
In fond embrace, just hold me tight

Walking hand in hand through crowded street
Floating on air, ground not touching feet

That lingering look or knowing glance
No need for words, mind in a trance

And now the day has finally come
You leave me now, life does succumb

The memories you’ve left I will not replace
My arms still hold you tight in fond embrace

As I close my eyes I see your smile
I’m sure you won’t mind if I linger a while

Eyes fill with tears at times it’s true
As I immerse myself in thoughts of you

This is so good and sweet. Like the message of the strength of one's love even after they are gone. Really good.
