ON MY KNEES FOR MY NIECE
T`was eventide
`Fore she died
Felt the shadow`s lull
Heard the meadow`s call
Felt when she flew
Yes I knew...
The sky...
T`was so beautiful
The shore...
From it I write
The tide was down
The moon was blue
But she never knew
This was her rite of passage
She`s a girl-child
She reads mum`s mind
She saw the blush
The day she was born
Daddy`s soul was so cold
Two numb hearts
They choked her all
They ignored her call
And crushed her doll
But then came the boy,
They poured out their joy
They were always at his side
Every time he cried
Soon she was forced to step aside
She`d lost her sweet smile
"My Parents dont care,
It`s not fair:("
She cried her heart to me
But i was scorned
For heeding the girl-child`s plea.
At the end'
My sweet niece died
She relinguished life
I know she`s in heaven
For she died with a smile-
A smile only angels could enworden
The smile of the fairyland
The cry of Patmos island
Cry and smile intertwined
A mixture so hard to find
I recall returning the smile
The smile of the girl-child
