It stood before me,
The entrance to hell,
A black gate welcomed us.
The place was in our sight.
Its walls stand tall,
In the eyes of its power you are small.
Your mouth feels shut with tape,
And there is no escape.
You feel your eyes going red with tears,
In a building where a nightmare takes the place of fears.
Barbed wire, a shooting hut,
You wished those gates had remained shut.
ARBEIT MACHT FREI.
ARBEIT MACHT FREI.
Never again will you think the world is kind,
Once you have entered Sachsenhausen’s poisonous mind.
