I Saw The Ocean Divide
Like as that was it
The end had dawned on me
When my hands had failed me
And nerve had departed
In a night without moon nor star
A day of stillness and summer heat
Scorching and hellishly hurting
Lying down but couldn’t sleep
Tossing about without relief
All options none and zero
The heavens but quiet and dark
Without a wish for tomorrow
Without a hope for the future
Every tick of clock paining as a syringe
A life divided into minutes and seconds
Every moment counting down to unfortunate fate
Overwhelmed and overpowered knees tremble
And the prodigal once more bow
In reverence fasting and fervent prayer
He opens his eyes and the sea has parted
The storm hushed and there’s great liberty
Both the believer and unbeliever exclaim,
How did that happen
Thus the power of prayer and
The testament of Divine Providence
