I hope to cleanse myself of the endless doubt you have inflicted upon me.

This is dedicated

To all the "ones"

In my life.

To all the ones

Who said, "I can't."

I say, "I can."

To all the ones

Who said, "Don't."

I say, "I won't…

Listen to the unkind words

Gushing out of your

Unbarred mouth."

You're not me.

Just let me be

Whoever I want

To be.

If I want to fly

Like a beautiful butterfly-

An insect long trapped

In the cocoon

Of your threatening presence-

Cheer me on,

Till I reach new heights

And find home

At the moon.

And if I want to be

Little old me,

Shower me with embraces

Of pure glee.

Why can't you be

My fan,

Instead of being

My biggest critic-

Knowing my weak spots

And reviewing me

Where it hurts the most?

Why can't you be

My believer,

Instead of being

My biggest doubter-

Forever questioning

The ways of my life?

Why can't you be

All that I need you to be?

Think about that

Before you attempt

To reenter my life.
