For Holly.
A gentle creature she was
Who walked with soft paces
A loving heart ever beating
For her caring family
A soul so pure and clear
She could cleanse away all pain.
Her soft brown eyes
Innocent like a doe’s
Her ears so soft and perky
Her gentle demeanour
Her warmth radiated life
To the coldest of days.
And now she’s sleeping
Suddenly He took her from us
Left behind wet eyes
And pained hearts-
The price of love
That we pay.
A better place she went to
Frolicking and gleeful
She looks down from above
Woofing at our sobs
She’s got Casi with her
Who’s more than happy to play.
Up and down they bound
The polished streets yonder
A friendly birdie chirps
A loving dove croons
And perhaps in their midst
My Betsy and Robin too.
She swirls around us in the wind
Teases in the rustling leaves
Brightens life in the sunrise
Her presence lingers on
Her legacy of love
Lives forever on.
