When David phoned to say you had died,
My instant response was to say he had lied,
I awoke into a living nightmare, with so much to do.
This cannot be true, a life without you.

Each sister and brother I had to tell,
Now I am aware of their living hell,
How do we tell our Mummy the news?
What sort of words should we choose?

Howard was brave and said the right thing,
Surely, this is the worst news to a mummy you can bring.
Shock took hold, a state of disbelief,
I do not think mummy has ever suffered such grief.

And for Katrina, what can we do?
She has lost a sister and her mum too,
Katrina's loss is the greatest. We know that is true,
All we can do is love and be here for you x

David is suffering with so much pain,
His life now pours a constant rain,
He walks this earth in a daze,
Through his tears he lives in a haze.

To get you home was all I would ask,
You can not imagine that sort of task.
You came home on your original homeward flight,
And Bob and Cathy came with you that cold night.

The doctors then had to do a report, as to why
My darling Karen you had to die,
Ischaemic heart disease was the cause,
Your perfect body had no other flaws.

We then made plans to lay you to rest,
We start with the church where you and David were blessed,
You will then be reunited with your daughter, Zena,
This will be the hardest day for your beloved Katrina.

Karen, beautiful Karen, you have left a hole in our world,
You were such a good and lovely girl,
Your smile and laugh we will keep in our heart
Never knowing why you had to depart.

You can never be replaced; you were one of a kind,
You will never be far from the thoughts in our mind,
We have done the best we can for you,
Rest in peace, Karen, our love will always stay true.

Your broken hearted sister Elizabeth…xxxxxx
