I am an extremely open minded, non-judgmental person who loves to learn. I enjoy reading, surfing the web, researching and writing essays, poems, quotes and reviews. When I say open minded, I do not mean so open that my brain might fall out. I also believe in skeptical skepticism and baloney detection in everyday life. I prefer the hard truth to the warm comforting fantasy, except for when I am dreaming at night. I believe there is a time and place for everything and that when a problem arises; the time to act is always now, not later. I am an Army Veteran and damn proud of it. Serving my country is my most proudest achievement and one that sets me and other Veterans apart from others whether you agree with it or not. I served three years and there is no dollar amount we can put upon three years of life. There are millionaires and billionaires who spend hundreds of thousands or even millions to go over sea’s just to get an immediate heart, liver or lung transplant just so they can live a little longer. If I could give you just 15 minutes a year to spend with someone who you loved that was very dear to you that has passed away, how much would you be willing to pay? For me, I would be willing to give all my assets, all my future earnings, everything, just to spend 15 minutes a year with my grandfather to tell him how things have been in my life, to ask him if he is okay and to remind him that I loved him. I propose this question because someone once asked me what the three years of Army life was worth in a dollar amount to me. Well, I think that for every minute of life we have is priceless and no dollar amount can make up for three years that was lost due to my service to our great country or for any lost time we have due to something or someone else. But my service also instilled and reaffirmed my many moral standards and set in stone the man I am today. I could never repay what the Army has taught me or given me in so many different aspects of my being, just as they could never pay for the time I served. It’s also a shame how little the citizens of the United States disregard the service of our military personnel, past and present. Every time I see a uniformed individual I say good day to you private or First Sergeant or Sir. These individuals deserve recognition every day, not just once a day. I have only been told happy Veterans Day twice in my life, both times by someone not even related to me, but I will always remember them. Anyhow, I believe in the Constitution of the United States, as I swore an oath to protect and defend against all enemies’ foreign and domestic and I am duty bound by that oath, morally till death, as I believe we all are. I also believe in the Supreme Moral law of our land the Declaration of Independence that most people forget and confuse with the Constitution. Due to a lack of knowledge and lack of enthusiasm for history or a lack of caring these days most people incorrectly relate the phrase “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” to the Constitution, when it was Thomas Jefferson who stated those words in the opening of the Declaration of Independence. I hope to see in my life time those words instilled upon every man, women and child of this Nation and a world where everyone is encouraged to learn not only as a child but throughout the life span. Children as many questions and have much enthusiasm for learning but by the time they reach Jr. High School much of that enthusiasm and eagerness to learn has died, we must change this or become a third world nation. We already rank low in Mathematics, Science and History and for every decade that ranking becomes lower and lower. As you have already surmised by now, I am a man of great moral conviction and have many high hopes for the future of the United States and mankind as a whole, but also many worries. I feel balance is key to most everything in life so I am an optimist but also a realist. I believe in talking about issues that most consider taboo, or discussing things that would ordinarily bother or scare us. I like to air my dirty laundry so to speak because I am sure of myself and of my God. I fear no one and that is all encompassing. Too many people have too many fears that hold them back in life and fear breads other negative emotions. Now that you know a little bit about me, you probably don’t want to associate with me, lol. But if you get to know me as many have done, you will find I am a very loving, caring, humble human being.
