Hi! It's Michelle.
I know - you were probably expecting a third-person, formal biography starting with the fact that I was born in Ft. Worth, TX. Well, I've never read an author's biography and thought, "Wow! Are you serious? She is from Fort Worth! Man, I've gotta read her book!" So, I thought it might be better to just let you meet the real Michelle Stimpson.
Here's my back-in-the day writing testimony...I started writing when I was in sixth grade. Mrs. Newman, my music teacher, let us have a talent show once every six weeks. My ongoing play was entitled "Big Sisters and Little Sisters" and it starred my best friend, Jill Miller. Folks, this was a serious play. We practiced during recess.
The summer after my sixth grade year, my life took a tragic turn when my mother was involved in a bad car accident. I started keeping a journal to deal with the pressures of suddenly being thrust into the role of mother to my two younger brothers, while coming-of-age without my mother at my side. In the midst of all that, God gave me writing as a form of comfort. I realize now that He must have read every single word I wrote because the Holy Spirit comforted me and kept me as I poured my little heart out onto those spiral notebook pages.
Here's an entry from when I was thirteen:
