I discover that in 50 years I seem to have been and have done a fair number of things: I am a family man, with a wife and thirteen-year-old son. I am a retired Lieutenant Commander, having spent 20 years in the submarine community and the Reserves. I am an avid SF/F reader. I am a public health worker, specializing in radiation. I garden, currently focusing on gourds, fruits and berries, and bamboo. Along the way I have attended a military academy (Coast Guard), fenced, rowed crew, fought in the SCA, crossed the Atlantic on a three-masted sailing ship, transited the Straits of Gibraltar five times, and played a lot of war games. And now I write, too.
