Hi. I'm Emily. My best friends are Maria and Lesly, and my boyfriend's name is Mark. Maybe I shouldn't be saying 'boyfriend', because I broke up with him. He said it was an accident, that he didn't mean to, but he keeps doing it. "For us!" He says, "for you!". How can he expect me to believe him if he keeps killing people, and everyone blames me? Chapter 1: My Boyfriend, Mark.

It was the second Sunday last April when I met Mark. I was driving in my beat-up truck, late that night. I think it was close to midnight. Maybe passed. But that isn't important.

It was pouring rain, and the only person crazy enough to be walking in the rain was the man I stopped my car to talk to.
"Hello?" I called through my open window, out into the pouring rain. The man looked at me. "Do you, um, live around here?"
I hoped he wouldn't think that was a creepy question. He nodded.

"Um... Do you want a ride? It's not fair for you to be walking in the rain like this. Pneumonia and stuff." I offered. What's the harm in helping a neighbour? He smiled at me, and got in the passenger side.

"Thank you," he told me, "My appartment is just up the road." I smiled, and started to drive.

We rode in silence for a while, but I don't think either of us were enjoying the silence. He wore a black hoodie, (it could've been grey, black from the wet), and a pair of jeans. His shoes were soaked. In the dim light of the run-down street lamps, I could tell he had light skin, and shap features. I couldn't see his eyes.

"So, uh..." I tried to make a conversation start. "What were you doing out in the rain?" Wow. I just realized how much of a fail at starting a conversation I was. He looked at me, (I guess he thought I was being nosy), but he answered anyway.

"I was meeting a friend, but he didn't show up." he told me. Then he pointed to my appartment building. "This is mine." I smiled.

"Same." I told him. I parked the truck in my parking spot and locked it once we were out in the rain.

"It's nice to meet a new neighbour," He told me. I smiled. "I'm Mark." He introduced himself.

"I'm Emily." I said. Then he walked to his appartment, and I walked to mine.

We met up a few days after, and after that we just sort of... clicked. We've been dating since last May, almost a year ago.

That's how I met Mark.

About a week after that, I met my best friends.
