I wrote this poem after a shooting occurred at my work.

Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Creek

What if? What if?

What if that bullet took away not one not two but three people I love that day?

What if?

What if I was there? What if I hadn't had that day off? What then? Would I have saved lives? Or would I have been taken away by lead shot into my flesh?

What if?

Drugs, Bullying, Mental illness, Suicide, and Murder

What if?

The thing that wasn't supposed to happen did.

What if?

How do you react to evil? Evil from a poison that you put in your veins

Would that be worth killing for?

God and the devil did not see fit to take away life that day. It's an evil even Satan condemns

What if?

What if I was going to a funeral instead of a party today?

Life changes in a blink of an eye .

You can't escape the evil that lives inside the poison coursing through veins and brains.

What if?
