At
Dachau,
Said Jakob,
I laid my head
Waiting for my death,
But death did not come for
Me, it came for others like
Hungry hounds, pacing days
And nights amidst
The grim grounds
Of the
Camp,
Or the
Train that brought
The prisoners
Into that dark place,
Providing they survived
The wretched journey at all,
Sometimes death did not wait,
But let loose the hounds
Until the sounds
Were ghostly
On the
Rails.
